HOW THE HECK DO THEY CAST FOR A MOVIE?

Once the locale has been scouted, stars signed, key production people assembled and the script is finalized, the Director will contact a Casting Director to fill in the ranks with local actors and background people.

We will receive a breakdown of the various roles and submit a potential list from the people listed on our roster.

PRINCIPAL ROSTER: We are constantly checking the Casting Workbook. As they identify Principal Roster actors with potential for various parts, they will contact the actor to see if they are available...if so, a date and time for an audition will be set.

The agent will also forward a copy of the sides (script)...which the actor is required to read (thoroughly) to understand the part, the circumstances and the purpose of their part and the dialog.

It is then incumbent upon the actor to study the script, memorize the lines and be able to deliver the goods! If time is simply too short to memorize the sides, the Casting folks know this and will make allowances. They are very aware of how nerveracking this process can be.

BACKGROUND: We will send out an e-mail briefly explaining the scene and what the Casting Director is looking for. As the list fills, we will respond to each background performer explaining the general date and location...and will normally phone the evening before to confirm time and place for the next day.

Background acting can be a lot of fun...but there are a few guidelines that must be followed in order to keep everyone happy.
