| If you are offered the opportunity to audition, there are certain preparatory steps which must be made in order to be successful. THE BEST AUDITION WILL GET THE PART! It is just that simple. There
are a number of courses available on how to prepare for an audition. One
of the most successful is conducted by Peter
Skagen, a Calgary actor, writer and educator and Casting
Director Deb Green.
Your
initial audition is usually for the Casting Director. You may be competing
with several people for the role. Within the first couple of minutes,
they will know whether or not you have done your homework. You will leave
hearing a polite 'Thank You"....then cross your fingers and wait. From all the auditions...a CD or VHS is made up and sent to the Director who, in turn, prepares a short list and contacts the Casting Director to set up another round of auditions. THE
CALL BACK THE
PART You just beat the 1/40 odds of getting the part...and will have to do it again next time. If you do a good job, the Casting Director will probably make a mental note about you for future casting. You are on your way and we will be right there with you to help along the way.
